  • Company: Artists Creating Together
  • Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan

ACT empowers individuals with disabilities to learn, grow and celebrate through the arts. The confidence built and the breakthroughs help move students to become more self-assured, more determined to succeed, and gives them unique tools to become positive contributors in our community. ACT is the largest non-profit organization in Michigan bringing artists, art projects, teachers and students with disabilities together. Last year, ACT helped over 6,000 individuals celebrate, succeed and grow through art.

The Programming Intern will assist ACT’s Program Coordinators with art classes: setting up the classroom, assisting the teaching artist, working with students, guiding volunteers and eventually overseeing one, weekly art class. The intern will also be asked to come up with art projects for various programs, and head up one-time programs (gathering supplies, deciding on art projects, setting up and taking down). Additional responsibilities may include assisting with writing program-specific articles for the ACT newsletter, creating social media posts based on specific programs, and assisting in the evaluative process throughout and after the conclusion of classes.

As this is a small non-profit organization, the person will also be expected to assist with office tasks such as mailings, database management and other administrative activities as time permits.
