Named for a generous donor to the MSU Broad Art Museum, the Scaglione Art Education Fellows are a team of enthusiastic undergraduate students who will lead gallery conversations and art activities with local youth for the 2019-2020 school year! If you enjoy working with children and would like to gain experience teaching with art, this internship will give you many opportunities to do both.

 

Apply for this internship if you have an education or art-related career interest, regardless of major. We know that creativity takes many forms across many disciplines, we will build a team of students from many fields.

 

Job Duties:

Collaborate with team to plan and lead programming, in-school visits, and tours, including but not limited to:

  • Co-teach art activities in the classroom
  • Co-teach tours in the galleries
  • Write tour plans with a focus on aligning student experiences to state education standards
  • Develop and test art-making and in-gallery activities in response to exhibitions
  • Inventory and prepare supplies for activities

 

 

Required:

  • Commit to at least one full semester
  • Availability on Tues and Thurs 9-11:30am, Fridays 9am-2pm
  • Complete a Criminal Background Check and Spartan Youth Training
  • Experience working with youth
  • Interest/experience with art

 

This is a new, exciting program for the museum, and we are looking for students with enthusiasm for being a part of the first group! You will learn together as you design and lead art experiences at the museum and in local schools for students in grades 4-8 from the Lansing community.
