The Content Writing Intern is responsible for assisting in the development, writing, and editing of high-quality print- and web-based collateral supporting activities for the organization including blogs, articles, newsletters, reports, flyers, email campaigns, ad copy, web copy, social media content, and other written materials to support Michigan Virtual. The work of the Content Writing Intern will be directed by the Marketing Manager to ensure that Michigan Virtual’s outreach, capacity building, marketing, sales, and branding activities are aligned with corporate strategies and vision. The Content Writing Intern will work closely with the Content Creator/Editor for on-the-job training, guidance, and to receive mentoring in best practice in this professional setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with marketing team members, program specialists, and strategists to produce relevant content.
  2. Contribute to content creation in alignment with strategic communications plan including communications to education organizations, social media, marketing collateral, email campaigns, etc.
  3. Contribute to the creation of a monthly newsletter that compiles thematic resources for subscribers.
  4. Edit and review all materials to ensure consistency in messaging and adherence to brand standards; proofread all content published in all formats.
  5. Translate creative direction and copy points from creative briefs into compelling copy and concepts.
  6. Write in multiple styles while being versatile enough to cover various communications channels (email, digital media, social, video, etc.).
  7. Participate in creative meetings and exercises to develop messaging and plan campaigns for communications initiatives.
  8. Contribute clear and compelling marketing language that compels action.
  9. Maintain a consistent voice and tone for the organization.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
