We're looking for a responsible and self-motivated intern for the 2019-2020 academic year to focus on and help execute initiatives related to leadership for graduate students, professional students, and postdoc. The internship period is throughout the academic year (September-May) with optional extension into summer session (May-August).



·       MSU undergraduate student, preferably sophomore or junior during the 2019-20 academic year.

·       Be available for ongoing professional development, training, and onboarding once hired.

·       Be available to work 10 hours per week during the school year (Some evening and weekend hours are required)

·       Proficient in professional writing and verbal skills.

The ideal candidate will show commitment to both assigned duties and ongoing learning, with a flexible attitude, ability to juggle multiple priorities, and willingness to voice questions, concerns, and ideas.


Assigned duties and responsibilities:

·       Collaborate with the Leadership Institute Coordinators (Graduate Students), Director of Graduate Student Life and Wellness, and other Graduate School staff members on day-to-day duties and strategic planning.

·       Crafting and curating leadership related content for social media and newsletter distribution

·       Coordinate the sharing and tagging of relevant tagging and units in the community

·       Attend regular meetings with Leadership Institute Coordinators.

·       Draft and distribute regular correspondence to leadership fellows, academy participants, and summit attendees.

·       Attend monthly Fellows meetings and help confirm professional development programming and needs.

·       Attend meetings with programming collaborators, partners, and facilitators to track key commitments and needs (and share out).

·       Join Summit and Academy programming to help orient participants to activities, distribute materials, take photographs, and draft “blog-like” stories for sharing on TGS website and social media.

·       Create flyers, brochures, presentations, event apparel, office swag and other marketing/promotional materials.

·       Aid in planning, promotion and execution of events for Leadership Institute

·       Analyze previous year’s data and help create new evaluations for events, programs, and workshops.


Recommended skills:

·       Microsoft Office suite (word, publisher, excel, power point, outlook)

·       Familiarization with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)

·       Familiarizatin with Canva graphic design platform
