• Application Deadline: 04/01/2020
  • Company: U.S. Senator Gary Peters
  • Location: Lansing, Michigan

We are currently accepting applications for our Summer 2020 Michigan internship program. This is an opportunity to work directly with Michiganders across the state to address their legislative concerns. A location of our state offices can be found here: https://www.peters.senate.gov/contact/office-locations

Interns in the state offices are primarily responsible for: greeting constituents, answering phones, drafting constituent correspondence, data entry, and interacting with our outreach team. Our Detroit office is the main casework hub for the State of Michigan. Interns in the Detroit office are additionally responsible for helping with case intake.

Interested applicants must email a cover letter, resume, unofficial transcript, references, and time availability to Peters_Intern@peters.senate.gov as one PDF. In addition, please include a response to the following questions. Responses for each question should be no more than 150 words.

  • What life experiences have shaped who you are today and what challenges have you overcome in achieving your education and goals?
  • Please explain why you seek an internship position in Senator Peters’ office and how you would benefit from receiving it.
  • What do you think is the most important issue facing the state of Michigan? How would you address it?

In the subject line, please write MI Intern followed by the name of the state office you are applying to. If an applicant is interested in applying to multiple offices, put both cities in subject line. For example, if you want to apply to both Detroit and Rochester, put MI Intern – Detroit, Rochester in the subject line.

All application materials are due by April 1, 2020.
