Arts & Letters Projects for Students

Arts & Letters Projects is a micro-internship program funded by the College of Arts & Letters’ Excel Network.

  • Short-term: Opportunities take fewer than 45 hours to complete.
  • Compensation: Paid via stipend; pay is based on $17/hr.
  • Flexibility: Some opportunities are remote, while others are in person.
  • Perfect Summer Gig: Takes place from June 1 – June 30.
  • Professional experiences: Great way to build professional experience on your resume and portfolio.

East Lansing Public Schools –
Research and Communicate “Points of Pride” (21-44 hours)

Research and add a “Points of Pride” page on the East Lansing Public Schools district website that shares why it’s great to live in East Lansing.


MSU Dept of Romance and Classical Studies – Video Producer (21-44 hours)

Produce a video welcoming students on campus in their language to be used by CAL and the language departments.


Summer Circle Theatre – House Managers (21-44 hours)

Welcome the public to Summer Circle Theatre while overseeing their safety, answering questions, and making audience members feel welcome.


MSU English Language Center – Language & Culture Mentors (21-44 hours)

Act as a mentor to a small group of international language students, providing them with English language conversation and cultural mentorship.


MSU English Language Center – Content Designer (21-44 hours)

Digitize a photo and artifact collection, and design a poster and social media posts about the collection.


MSU Department of Romance and Classical Studies – Logo Designer (21-44 hours)

Create two logos for La Casa and the translation program to be used on professional marketing materials.

Love MSU and MSU Sports? Create graphics and other promotional materials about football coach Duffy Daugherty’s trailblazing role in integrating athletic teams.


LiLaCs Faculty Member – Database Search (21-44 hours)

Gain experience conducting an important research project on the link between adult learners of English as a second language and the skills of their oral interaction abilities.


LiLaCs Faculty Member – Transcription of L2 Learner Speech (21-44 hours)

Transcribe audio-recorded interactions of adult nonnative English speakers, mostly involving speakers whose first language is Chinese or Korean.


Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities – Website Redesign (21-44 hours)

Fully redesign the website for the Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities, including a review of the site’s accessibility, graphics/layout, and user experience.


Mediterranean Women Authors Project – Building Website and Digital Archives (21-44 hours)

Develop an edited volume and a digital bibliography on the topic of Mediterranean Women Authors.


Williamston Theatre and ACM&MS – Newsletter Creation (21-44 hours)

Become an integral part of the marketing team at Williamston Theatre by creating promotional materials and shooting content for social media platforms.


Citizen Scholars Program – Website Redesign + Content Strategy (21-44 hours)

Update the Citizen Scholars website to tell their story and showcase student work better


Humanities Commons – Communicating Instructions: Written and Videos (21-44 hours)

Flex your technical writing skills by communicating how to navigate the new Humanities Commons website, an open-access platform connecting scholars.


Spartan Ninja Warrior – Video Production for Website and Social Media (21-44 hrs)

Celebrate climbing, jumping, flying, and running – grow the presence of Spartan Ninja Warrior on social media and their website by creating short, entertaining videos.


Michigan World Language Association – Logo Design + Social Media (0-20 hours)

Pump up your portfolio by designing a logo and marketing materials for the 2025 Michigan World Language Association conference.


“Bringing the Archives to Life: Reimagining Black Women Educators’ Histories and Futures” – Voice Recording (21-44 hours)
