Hours:​ Full Time (approximately 40 hours/week) Reports to Executive Director
Job Purpose:​ The Advocacy Director oversees the coordination and implementation of advocacy activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:​ The Advocacy Director performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:

General Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the delivery pertaining to advocacy efforts, including volunteer coordination, advocacy days, youth workshops, and other programs
  • Develop initiatives to support the strategic direction of MOASH’s advocacy efforts, including, but not limited to, updates to the legislative tracker and development of position statements
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of advocacy efforts, including a formal policy/legislative agenda
  • Communicate with partners and other key stakeholders, including membership on several partner councils and coalitions
  • Manage communication for advocacy efforts through peer to peer texting, media relations, social media, webinars, trainings/workshops, and other communication channels
  • Maintain meticulous notes and complete regular reports to both funders and the state
  • Support evaluation and contribute to quality improvement
  • Ongoing professional development and improvement of job knowledge byparticipating in educational opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned, including some administrative duties


  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and writing skills
  • Experience with community organizing, policy, and systems change work
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with colleagues
  • Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude for systems thinking
  • Comfort with regular travel within the state, as well as some weekend andevening hours
  • Availability of a home office, including internet and phone
  • Reliable transportation, current vehicle insurance, and valid driver’s license
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public administration, advocacy, education, and/or legislative research social planning, public administration, business administration, advocacy, or related field
  • Formal education or training in social work, public health, youth development, and/or education
