The College of Arts & Letters’ Excel Network is here to support students in their path to career readiness. Below are two courses that offer career strategies to students who are creating their first resumes, or who are looking to jump start their planning for life after MSU.

AL250:
Career Strategies for Arts & Letters Students
This one credit, late start course (which is offered in the Fall and Spring), will take students through the basics of job searches, interviews, networking, and developing professional documents. In this course, students will identify, explore, and prepare for suitable career options.

Some topics include: professional documents, career development strategies, and job search skills.

AL460: 
Advanced Career Strategies for Arts & Letters Students
This one credit, late start course, is heavily focused on supporting students in their final career preparation efforts. This group workshop style class will serve as a regular block of time for students to build their professional knowledge and work on their plans for life after MSU. Students will also learn skills to help them navigate the job market, search process, and professional environments.

Some topics include: professional documents and portfolios; building your network; implementing search strategies; and strategies to navigate a variety of professional situations.
