Communications Internship

Role Description

  • The Communications Office of MSU’s Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) is hiring a creative, thoughtful, self-motivated student writer for a paid writing internship that will start in early September 2022. (Start date could be earlier depending on need and availability.)
  • RCAH, Communication Arts and Sciences, Professional Writing, English, Journalism, and PR students encouraged to apply.

Details:

  • Approximately 75% writing, 25% social media/web/video/photography.
  • Strong journalism writing experience a plus.
  • $12 per hour.
  • 10 hours per week
  • Majority of hours scheduled in the office in Snyder-Phillips Hall; remaining hours flexible.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and post news stories, feature articles, and profiles covering accomplishments of RCAH students, faculty, and alumni, as well as RCAH events and activities. Examples: http://rcah.msu.edu/news/index.html
  • Create and post RCAH-related content to social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).
  • Pitch ideas for social media posts and news/feature articles.
  • Take video and photos of RCAH events for web, social media, and other outlets.
  • Web updates and posting. Web experience not necessary; will train.
  • Attend and cover some evening and weekend events for web and social media.
  • Propose new ideas and projects, and engage with RCAH Comm staff in planning and strategy.

  • Internship open to all MSU undergraduates.
  • Internship can be of indeterminate length.
