My internship title was Apparel Consultant. My tasks included competitive analysis, apparel and sustainable product research, and apparel market strategizing. My daily workday routine included, workout routines, morning and or afternoon meetings, project work, and breaks in-between my project work.

I obtained my internship by reaching out to Dan Meier. Prior to the pandemic, I secured an internship in London, England, but once it was cancelled due to COVID-19, I believed that the Global Remote Internship was a great alternative internship.

My favorite part of the internship was the opportunity to work in an international environment and obtain a new global experience. My least favorite part of the internship was not being able to have the hands-on experience of exploring Ireland.

While conducting research, I learned that there are a lot of apparel brands that don’t include product materials. I find it important for apparel brands to know what materials were used to produce their clothing, as well as where those materials were sourced. My future plans are to act as a sustainable apparel entrepreneur and designer, stylist, and writer.

Throughout the duration of my internship, I have obtained the skills of competitive analysis and apparel marketing. I have also built upon my skills of research, fashion illustration, communication, and creativity.

The advice that I have for other students seeking internship opportunities is to remain open-minded and to make the best of your internship experience. My internship placement wasn’t at a fashion brand as I hoped it would be, however since it was still within the design field, I collaborated with my site supervisor to make the most of my internship. Fortunately, I was able to work on projects that were all pertinent to my career field.
