Role Description

Description:The College of Arts & Letters is looking for two creative, talented, and self-driven students to assist the Advancement team in the College. Must have an inquiring mind, strong research skills, the ability to manage multiple projects at once, a positive attitude, excellent writing skills, and a high degree of professionalism. 

This internship will begin in Spring Semester 2022 and be virtual and in person. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the world of fundraising and development. Learn from professionals in a high-level organization the skills needed to succeed in the fast-paced world of advancement! You will work with the College of Arts & Letters’ Advancement Team to support efforts in stewardship, event coordination and execution, donor research, reporting, prospect management, and financial transactions. These projects are crucial to building relationships with CAL Alumni and forward the mission of the College and the University as a whole. Candidates should be able to start ASAP, continuing through subsequent semesters upon positive performance reviews.

 Potential Responsibility Areas:

Stewardship – drafting thank you letters, phone calls, generating endowment spending reports 

Financial – assist in processing financial documents, financial analysis, and research.

Events – assistance with event RSVPs, event management, follow-up calls, etc. Assist in the coordination of CAL events, including Arts Weekend, lectures, CAL alumni receptions, and dinners/awards receptions.

Research – conduct research on CAL alumni via social media, google searches, and other platforms, create a calendar of donor/major prospect birthdays, events to remember, etc.  

Special projects – collaborate and support the Advancement team with Advisory Board Meetings, Excel Network-Alumni opportunities and events, planned giving campaign, Annual Giving projects such as Give Green Day and other projects. 

Administrative – assist with general administrative needs for the Advancement Office, database management, updating records, etc.   

Other duties as assigned.

  • Preference given to students in their sophomore/junior years
  • Pay Rate:$12/hrAvailability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week within regular business hours – 8am to 5pm Monday – Friday. Additional evening events may be designated.
