Co.act Detroit is building towards a future in which systemic barriers that undermine community power and success are overcome through a culture of collaborative action and access to priority resources. Since 2020, Co.act Detroit has worked in partnership with regional foundations and intermediary partners to promote an equitable funding landscape through equity-driven grant making, grants management and earned revenue program development. To date, Co.act Detroit has co-designed and implemented almost $2 million in grant support through the following grant programs:

  • Activate Fund:$1.5 million to support nonprofit capacity building and collaboration
  • 2020 Detroit Community Development Mini-grant in partnership with Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD):COVID-19 relief grants
  • 2021 Detroit Community Development Mini-grant in partnership with CDAD: COVID-19 relief grants

In partnership with The Kresge Foundation and Michigan Community Resources, Co.act Detroit is currently managing and administering Kresge Innovative Projects: Detroit Plus (KIP: D+). KIP: D+ funds transformative neighborhood projects that support the vision, creativity and priorities of Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park residents. In 2014, The Kresge Foundation’s Detroit Program launched Kresge Innovative Projects: Detroit (KIP:D) to support nonprofits in their work to improve the quality of life and strengthen the fabric of Detroit communities. So far, the program has committed $11 million to fund transformative projects that are shaped by the people most impacted, and that build on the strengths and uniqueness of Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Co.act Detroit is an initiative launched by TechTown. TechTown will provide support and administrative and fiduciary assistance to Co.act.

Position Summary:

Co.act Detroit is seeking a Program Coordinator for our grant programs. A successful Program Coordinator is organized, detail-oriented and possesses excellent administration and communications skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about the importance and impact of the nonprofit sector in Southeast Michigan and seeks to build strong communities through supporting the development of strong organizations, strong leaders, and a strong nonprofit network. The Program Coordinator thrives when creating something new and navigating a flexible and dynamic culture. Ideally, the Program Coordinator has experience supporting a grant fund and has a working knowledge of the nonprofit landscape in Southeast Michigan. Responsibilities:

Grant Selection and Management Support

  • Support relationship management, coordinating outreach with strategic partners
  • Collect and manage grantee information for data analysis and tracking
  • Manage phone, email and in-person inquiries related to grant programs, tracking trends and communications and recommending improvements for guidelines, FAQ and other program documents as needed
  • Develop resource templates and other tools to ensure consistent applicant and grantee messaging and streamline communications
  • Support preparation of grantee paperwork and coordinating post-selection onboarding
  • Collaborate with program partners to support one-on-one, small group, and large group training and networking opportunities
  • Manage grant disbursement paperwork, contracts and agreements with support from other programmatic staff
  • Support all grant measurement and reporting including developing templates and collecting interim grant reports, final reports, following-up with grantees as needed, and consolidating and summarizing findings for Co.act stakeholders and funders

Program Design & Development

  • Support program design and implementation, vision setting, goal creation and attainment, problem-solving, and evaluation for his or her or their assigned projects with support from other programmatic staff
  • Support the coordination, outreach and facilitation of program stakeholders, beneficiaries, and residents to inform the development and creation of program applications, guidelines, structure and criteria
  • Support with drafting and editing program materials, application portal set-up, information sessions, and outreach

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop trust and strong working relationships with nonprofit grantees, applicants and other community partners
  • Assist in the preparation of invoices and/or other required reports for funders, the Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, or Committees on an as-needed basis
  • Review national best practices related to Co.act’s work and offer recommendations and suggestions for new and existing programs
  • Support implementation of the organization’s communications plan including contributing to content for the website, newsletters, and other internal or external communications

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for Co.act’s mission to serve nonprofits and accelerate regional collaboration
  • Minimum of a BA/BS in a related field and/or equivalent experience in program management and coordination, experience supporting a grant program a plus
  • 2+ years of work experience comparable to the job description
  • Experience supporting successful nonprofit capacity building, grant or equivalent programs
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and skill in establishing priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with multiple and diverse populations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, takes initiative and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer skills in order to perform all duties as needed with special focus on Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and G-Suite; willingness to learn

Preferred:

  • Preferred experience with Submittable and/or Zoho
  • A working knowledge of the nonprofit sector is required, with deep Southeast Michigan experience or knowledge strongly preferred. Competitive candidates will have context and experience working with nonprofits in Southeast Michigan, and a strong understanding of the regional ecosystem

Salary:

The budgeted salary range for this position starts at $48,000 and may be adjusted according to qualifications and experience.
