Role Description

Communications Intern at MSU WorkLife Office

Location: Hybrid options (remote and in-person) 

The communications intern will provide the WorkLife Office with communications-related support. Organizes and completes communications and promotional projects and materials for events, resources, and office services. Writes articles, creates flyers and one-page handouts, operates social media, and assists with graphic design. The communications intern will help with communications, promotion, and graphic design related assignments and projects for the areas of workplace, career, community connections, family, and newcomers. 

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides experienced support from academic field education/previous positions to the WorkLife Office 
  • Writes blog articles and pieces for the office’s monthly newsletter, website publications, and other promotional materials 
  • Creates promotional materials for events, including creating flyers, writing about events, promoting events to social media, and other promotional tasks 
  • Drafts and types memos, emails, and proposals on work-life topics, reviewing and editing as necessary, gaining experience in work-relevant communication  
  • Creates one-page handouts and other materials summarizing the office’s services and other resources 
  • Contributes to the branding and graphic design of the office and its promotional materials 
  • Archives information into the office’s Share Point 
  • Supports special events such as affinity groups, Women’s Networking Association meetings, multiple parenting series, and others 
  • Completes project work independently in order to facilitate the functioning of the office 
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisors 

Requirements

  • Must be a student of MSU 
  • Weekly availability for team meetings 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps 
  • Knowledge of social media applications and Zoom
