Role Description

Social Work/Family Services Intern at MSU WorkLife Office

Location: Hybrid options (remote and in-person)

Assist the WorkLife Office by directly interacting with parents, adult caregivers, international newcomers, women’s networking association and other employee groups at MSU through one-on-one interactions, educational programming, and affinity groups. The Social Work/Family Services Intern will help to provide programming, information and referrals to constituents in the areas of family, workplace, career, community connections and newcomers.  


Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides experienced support from academic field education/previous positions to the WorkLife Office  
  • Facilitates affinity groups working with caregivers, families, and international newcomers at MSU, and others 
  • Assists with educational programming and webinars on topics such as parenting, grief and loss, workplace wellness, and self-care, among others 
  • Collects and provides resources to MSU faculty, staff, specialists, and post-docs 
  • Organizes and completes project assignments required by internship department as well as the office 
  • Organizes and facilitates events, including creating flyers, writing about events, promotion of events, tracking attendees, and following up on the event, among other tasks 
  • Researches best practices in the work-life area 
  • Enters and compiles data for referrals, who uses the office and its information 
  • Creates and maintains records on events, office projects, presentations, and research articles 
  • Prepares reports for event evaluations using Qualtrics or other data gathering systems  
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor 

Requirements

  • Must be a student of MSU 
  • Weekly availability for team meetings 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps 
  • Knowledge of social media applications and Zoom
