I was a Graphic Design and Research Intern at Babette Wasserman, a luxury jewellery label in the UK. My roles included updating the website, editing photos, writing blogs, and creating email campaigns for the company. Through CAPA and the Excel Network, I was able to intern with this company and apply knowledge from my graphic design minor and marketing major to create content to be published on the site.
My favorite part of the internship was the opportunity to learn about the “behind the scenes” of a small company. From the design process to editing the website, I was able to work closely with the team and develop an understanding for life as an entrepreneur. It was so exciting to see the process of ideation to creation, especially when her designs were specially made for customers or world-renowned brands. Owning a business is hard work, but I hope to follow that same path one day by creating a label of my own. My time with Babette and the team has helped me gain experience in website maintenance and graphic design for products.
Finding internships and working with a successful company can be intimidating! To students seeking out internships, I would encourage you to have confidence in yourself and your skills. My internship was an amazing opportunity for me to apply my own skills, but also learn about skills needed in your career. Your internship will be an exciting experience that prepares you for life after college.
