Wharton Center Institute for Arts & Creativity provides a wide range of educational and engagement programs for learners of all ages and is seeking one paid intern for the 2022-2023 season.
The internship begins August 2022 and ends May 2023, although interns may be offered part-time summer employment. The internship is a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the fields of arts administration and education, by participating in programs such as Disney Musicals in Schools, Young Playwrights Festival, Sutton Foster Awards, Shakespeare Immersion Project, and more. The Institute seeks applicants with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong interest in arts administration, computer experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom, along with a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate would also have an interest and/or experience in accessibility and equity in arts education and could make a multi-year commitment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- A commitment of 12-18 hours per week (including some evenings and weekends).
- General administrative and office support, preparation of study guides, and communication with schools and other patrons.
- Observing artists in the classroom.
- Assist with in-house event setup, clean-up, and hospitality.
- Ability to drive the Wharton van when necessary.
- Staying up to date on MSU Youth Program Protocol and correlating Institute program guidelines.
Wharton also offers interns the opportunity to shadow staff and visiting artists. Training will beprovided in arts education, with the possibility of direct experience in the field.
