College of Arts & Letters Excel Network Experiential Learning Snapshot 2017-2018

Internships: 62% of students reported their internships were paid, 49% recieved academic credit, 18% completed international internships

Service Learning: 836 students participated in 10 service learning classes and 7 community engagement projects. Plus 4 CAL general education courses involved an additional 103 students in community engagement.

Study Abroad: 25% of students studied abroad across the globe in 26 countries. 43% studied a foreign language while abroad.

Study Away: Highlighted study away locations include Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Puerto Rico, and Silicon Valley.

Undergraduate Research: 54 students received funding for research or creative endeavors, supported by the CAL Undergraduate Research Initiative.

Scholarships: CAL awarded more than $130,000 in scholarships to support student experiential learning.
