I spent the summer working within a specialty 5-year project within the organization called The Low Energy Inclusive Appliances program (LEIA). LEIA aims to accelerate the availability, affordability, efficiency, and performance of a range of low energy inclusive appliances, particularly appliances suited for use in lesser developed countries. I spent much of my time writing (blog posts, newsletters, internal communication documents), assisting the communication team within LEIA, as well as assisted in conducting various research projects.
The two months I spent in London were some of the most incredible and most transformative in my life. I was able to get a more refined grasp on what I wanted out of a job environment as well as what kind of things I could see myself doing in a future career. I also grew tremendously as an individual as well; learning how to navigate working a full-time job, getting to know a brand new city, and having a social life all at the same time. I was able to figure out that a big city is where I needed to be upon graduation and lastly getting more in touch with my passions and goals in life.
