What was your internship title and role/responsibilities?
I was a marketer intern at Renovate Japan LLC in Toyko, Japan. I did graphic design work on the hotel website as well as translated the main website to English and created content for the hotel.

How did you obtain your internship? What resources did you utilize to secure your internship?
I went through the MSU study abroad portal, it was initially to look at France’s programs but I came across Japan and immediately applied. I utilized my resume and my interviewing skills to secure my internship.

What did your daily routine include?
I would get up at 5 am (personal choice) and begin to make breakfast
at 9 am we would have a meeting and begin work at 10 am. I would continue to work until 5 pm.

Your favorite experience from the internship?
My favorite experience was the BBQ. I made friends with people in the hometown of Yaizu, Shizuoka. I also learned about customary things while we conversed.

What was your least favorite part of the internship?
The Shinkansen ride from Tokyo to Shizuoka!

What skills did you learn and/or build upon during your internship?
I learned how to create a marketing plan, that is easy to read and straight to the point. I also learned how to make accent drawings in favor of the company.

What did you learn about the industry or your career path as a result of the internship? What are your future plans?
I honestly learned that I too want to start my own business to help people. I want to use my art to better help the world.

What advice do you have for other students seeking out internship opportunities?
I definitely would take in every aspect of your internship, and having more of an ability to communicate with those around you can better serve your experience!
