Job Title:        Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) Program Assistant

Job Status:  Temporary, part-time (up to 28 hours per week)

Job Summary: Under direct supervision, the CAAP Program Assistant assists in all aspects of fundraising and development including prospect research, grant support, and database administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing proactive strategies for CAAP’s fundraising and donor outreach activities. Involves research; writing letters, proposals, fact sheets, and other materials; building relationships with potential funders/donors; responding to inquiries; helping coordinate related events (fundraisers)
  • Assist in evaluating and processing grants for various nonprofits from CAAP funds; involves research, data entry, communications with organizations, and writing
  • Assist CAAP team with strategies to engage CAAP youth program participants and alumni including scholarship recipients, TGI participants and alumni from both programs
  • In conjunction with the CAAP team and the Communications Department, may assist with administering online and social media marketing and communications. Involves research best practices and maintaining social media networks that may span across sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, and others
  • Assist in maintaining relationships and correspondence with donors and prospects, including donor acknowledgment and recognition
  • Promote the mission and message of the Center for Arab American Philanthropy to businesses, corporations, and individual leadership
  • Provide support with grant writing, developing case statements, and grant reporting
  • Work with the CAAP team on other projects as needed
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic concepts, principles and practices of fundraising/development and/or customer relationship building (ie. sales experience)
  • Donor database maintenance

Skill in:

  • Demonstrated proficient skills in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills to promote and sustain positive internal and external relationships
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Ability to:

  • Work both independently and as part of a team, in a highly efficient and organized manner
  • Work on several projects concurrently, prioritize and complete in timely manner
  • Track progress on tasks and handle follow-up as needed
  • Handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • Associate degree or 60 credits towards a Bachelor’s degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    •  Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, English, Communications or related field

Hours:  Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
