I learned that just because being an activist is usually an unpaid job, doesn't mean it should be. The largest skill that I built upon throughout this fellowship was my technological skills. Most of my work is remote, and prior to this fellowship I struggled a lot with anything having to do with technology. I feel much more confident with my skills to be able to successfully function as a remote worker.

My favorite part of the entire process was getting to witness every court proceeding whether it was something as simple as an illegal concealed weapon or something as extreme as murder. It was such a unique and unfathomable experience that I will truly remember fondly for the rest of my life.

Madison Imperio

I was a part of building an exhibit called "The Observation Experiment" and I learned so much about the exhibit process while having so much fun working with my coworkers. The best part was putting the exhibits artifacts into their cases, it's a gentle yet creative process. Every day I would go home very tired. I didn't realize how much manual labor I would be doing, but I learned the importance of stretching before going to work.

I learned that writing and this form of writing are something I really enjoy! I had contemplated working somewhere in the publishing industry, but I came to realize that I loved this internship so much. I was able to be creative, to write almost whatever I wanted. Everyone was nice when it came to sharing feedback and constructive criticism, and it just made me really excited that I love writing and it made me realize that I'd be content doing this forever.
