My favorite experience from the internship was the book launch that my publisher held at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square. We worked really hard to make the event happen for Nadina LaSpina’s book Such a Pretty Girl to align with the Disability Pride Parade in New York City. It was amazing to hear LaSpina speak at a place like Barnes and Noble about her book that I had read and helped promote.
From spending my internship in New York City for the summer, I learned that a company, big or small, is a team and every worker is important. I spent most of my internship working all areas of the press, which was a great experience instead of simply being assigned to one department. I saw how every part of the company was important to the success of the books and authors that we worked with.
