I was a fashion Intern at Golden Stitch Design where my main role was to create different repeat patterns that reflected her company. I did lots of art and trend research and drew from that research to create new and trendy patterns that fit the style of Golden Stitch. Most of my research revolved around nature, as that is the main inspiration for Golden Stitch.
As a Social Media and Graphic Design Intern, I learned about the dynamic of working in the office, as well as the struggles of being a designer and having to edit the same file over 20 times.
Gaborone and Maun, Botswana | Summer
Students will study the history, culture, society, education, politics, and languages of Botswana with a focus on how these topics are impacted by intersectional identities including race, religion, gender, sexuality, and disability. They will work with and learn from students and faculty from MSU, Botswana Open University (BOU), and the University of Botswana (UB). Ultimately MSU students will collaborate with Botswana faculty to facilitate and assess a multi-day writing retreat for faculty and staff from both institutions.
Osaka, Japan | Summer
Japan is the third-largest economy and the fourth-leading exporter in the world, with 51 Japanese firms making the Fortune 500 lists. Osaka Prefecture is the geographical and economic center of the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto & Kobe), and the second largest city in Japan. The area is known for being a powerhouse for aspiring Engineers in the areas of AI/Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical and Software.
As a Digital Communications Undergraduate Summer Intern, my responsibilities included Creating and publishing weekly digital intern introduction stories for newsletters, social media, and website, producing high-quality graphics and digital/video content for website, social media, email newsletter, and other communications channels, and assisting the communications team with digital projects on an ad hoc basis.
As an admin and communications intern, I was responsible for creating 3-5 social media posts on many different platforms each week. I would post current news articles revolving around migration in Africa and the world. I would also post “Did you know?” Slides that inform people about different types of migration and migration trends. Once a month I would post a press review with twelve articles related to migration that were national, regional, and international to South Africa.
My internship title was Studio Student Intern. My responsibilities consisted of conducting studio maintenance, assisting with classes/workshops, attending committee meetings, and the guild's presence at art fair sales.
Athens, Greece | Fall/Spring
MSU students will find numerous academic options studying at the largest private college in Greece with a vibrant student community and an amazing location in the city of Athens. Mannheim, Germany | Fall/Spring
Spend a semester taking social science classes inside of an 18th century Baroque palace in the heart of Germany. This program type is designed for students seeking a rigorous and self-guided experience. To be successful, students must commit to uphold a significant degree of proactivity and professionalism. Students are often required to secure their own housing, book individual flights, obtain a student visa/residence permit, etc.
As a Junior Graphic Designer and Apparel Management, I assisted my employer, Maria Hayes, by designing marketing items for clients such as posters, banners, t-shirts, business cards, menus, etc. I also was in charge of iron-press printing and vinyl peeling for apparel orders.
