Through this internship, I learned the importance of creating connections at work through genuine interactions! If you are meant to work in a certain field you will find serendipitous relationships along the way. My advice is to look for genuine connections and pursue what actually interests you! Never allow yourself to feel like the field you want to go into is inaccessible, if you have a genuine interest and passion you will find the opportunities that fulfill you!

Youlosophy | Remote

My responsibilities were to edit existing works for grammar, spelling, clarity, and punctuation in British and American English, which also involved translating some texts before editing. I also wrote new content in English following the styling and direction of the works I had previously edited. My favorite part of the internship was editing. The biggest project assigned to me was editing both existing and future books, so I quickly fell into the groove of being an editor and it brought me a huge sense of satisfaction.

My advice for other students seeking internship opportunities is to start your search early and be open to a wide range of possibilities, because it gives you time to make connections and express your interest in an organization.

My favorite parts of the internship are the friends I’ve made and the beautiful learning moments I’ve seen students have. I learned a lot about non-profits and the way they run- and I feel deeply connected to the work Reach does. I learned massive amounts from each artist I worked with both about the creative process and classroom management. I advise that students looking for internships wait for their best fit if possible. I’m glad I took the time to sort through opportunities and found Reach.

This opportunity taught me so much about myself, and helped me to learn and develop so many skills – from social media, to time management, to confidence in professional settings. I have made strong connections that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The worst part of this internship is having to leave for a bit. My advice for students looking for internships is two-fold. Firstly, do not give up! I spent months searching for internships, and so I know that it can be a painstaking and challenging process. I promise that if you hang in there, an opportunity will eventually come your way. You just have to keep after it and remember whatever dream it is that you’re working towards.

My favorite part of the internship was building a bond with Miss Taylor. She reminds me of myself because we went through similar struggles. It was also amazing because I was able to work with a successful black woman in the career field I am pursuing. My least favorite part about my internship was that everything was virtual. I like to converse with people face to face and not via zoom. However, the entire experience was great because I was able to stay at home with my infant.

My favorite part of my internship experience was not only being able to have so much creative freedom when it came to designing the textile prints, but also being able to see my growth overtime, and by the end, having over 30+ prints and renderings that would be sent to the Anthropologie team for selection. This process was really rewarding in the sense that I felt independent, and my supervisor’s positive feedback made me motivated to continue in the industry I love.
