The more time that you have, the more you can explore and be able to figure out what you like and don't like. Don't be afraid to go put yourself out there and start networking early on!

Clay Space TC | Traverse City, Michigan

I was the Clay Space studio intern for the summer. I helped with the physical movement of work through the ceramic process; through loading and unloading kilns, mixing up glazes, and helping reclaim the studio's clay. I also assisted with teaching during multiple kids camps this summer. Another component of my time in the studio was making my own work and introducing new things into the studio space.

I was a marketing intern and my primary roles were to edit videos and design a brochure for an award show that my organization was throwing. Improving my video editing skills was my favorite part about this experience. Also, I learned a lot more about marketing and learned some design skills. This experience also helped me improve my time management skills and networking skills. In the future, I plan to pursue a job that involves video editing.

Through this internship, I learned the importance of creating connections at work through genuine interactions! If you are meant to work in a certain field you will find serendipitous relationships along the way. My advice is to look for genuine connections and pursue what actually interests you! Never allow yourself to feel like the field you want to go into is inaccessible, if you have a genuine interest and passion you will find the opportunities that fulfill you!
